Every three days, a child dies of cancer in the Netherlands. This must change!
The Princess Máxima Centre for Child Oncology
In May 2018, the largest research and care centre for children with cancer in Europe opened; the Princess Máxima Centre in Utrecht. A large part of the children's oncology research takes place here. This is made possible by support from KiKa as the largest funder of the Princess Máxima Centre. Here doctors, researchers and other specialists work together in order to ensure that children with cancer receive the best treatment.
Every year, more than 550 children in the Netherlands get cancer. At present, 75% of these children are cured. This must and can be improved. KiKa's aim is to increase this percentage to 95%. Kika raises funds for innovative research and other activities in the field of child cancer, aimed at less pain during treatment, more recovery and a higher quality of life later in life. In addition, Kika focuses on providing information about childhood cancer.
